Creative acts: Dialogues between PCP and theatrical improvisation
by Claudia Scalise
Abstract
Exploring and re-elaborating the meanings and implications of a personal experience of “improvisation” I arrived at Theatrical Improvisation, a discipline that I feel is close to the Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) approach and psychotherapy for some basic constructions. Starting from a quick introduction on the world of theatrical improvisation, I will try to bring out and dialogue the elements of commonality that can be traced between the qualities of the Improviser and those of the PCP Psychotherapist, as well as the further possible scenarios resulting from the encounter of these two contexts. I’m concluding my reflections with some research hypotheses for future explorations on the subject.
Keywords: improvisation, theatrical improvisation, psychotherapy, relationship, roles.
